Mini Miglia / Se7en Donnington
Sunday 24th October
This was the 10th and final round of both the Mini Miglia and Mini Se7en season. A small band of members, two, decided to brave the elements and head off for what turned out to be a very exciting and thrilling days racing. Not only Minis, but also Porsche', single seaters and rover 220's. Planting ourselves at the chicane (just before the finished straight) provided us with a thrilling spectacle. A first lap incident in the mini Miglia saw a coming together of Dunn and Sollis, taking themselves and Chandler out of the race, which was won by Rogers, who had a race long battle for the lead with Simms. The Se7en racing was equally as exciting as the championship was up-for-grabs, with Joe Tandy and James Hall vying for supremacy, Hall had to finish at least two places higher than Tandy, which eventually turned out to be the case as Tandy retired with mechanical problems. Other events of note were, the Porsche's providing two races, one which was won in reverse gear, after a last corner incident, and the other, the first time I have seen someone lap the entire field (and then some more!!!)
